At Westside Union Elementary School District (WUSD), we are committed to providing a high-quality education and transparently tracking our students' growth. The two resources below—the detailed CAASPP results and the comprehensive California School Dashboard—work together to give parents and the community a full picture of our students' performance and the District's overall effectiveness.

What is CAASPP?

The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) is the state's main testing program. It provides detailed, year-by-year information on how WUESD students are performing on state academic standards and whether they are on track for success in college and careers.

For our K-8 students, the CAASPP System includes:

• Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments: Computer-adaptive tests in English Language Arts/Literacy and Mathematics administered to students in grades 3 through 8.
• California Science Test (CAST): An online assessment for students in grades 5 and 8.
• ELPAC: Administered to students in grades K-8 who are identified as English Learners to assess their progress in learning English.

This dashboard provides raw proficiency data for WUESD. The results initially display district-wide scores, but you can use the filters on the page to navigate to any individual WUESD school to view its specific performance data.

2. California School Dashboard

The California School Dashboard takes the CAASPP academic data and combines it with several other key metrics to provide a holistic evaluation of the District's health and progress.

The Dashboard reports on a variety of indicators, including:

• Academic Performance (utilizing CAASPP data)
• Suspension Rates
• Chronic Absenteeism

Westside Union School District provides all students with textbooks and other instructional materials to support the district’s adopted curricular programs. Funding is provided by the state for the acquisition of textbooks and instructional materials that are aligned with State Board adopted content standards in Reading/Language Arts/English Language Development, Mathematics, History/Social Science, and Science.
